The Chicago Blackhawks and defenseman Connor Murphy have agreed on a four-year extension that carries an annual average value of $4.4 million.

Murphy, 28, has become the de facto No. 1 defenseman on a Blackhawks team that has not been strong defensively in recent seasons.

Forward Andrei Svechnikov has agreed to an eight-year, $62 million deal with the Carolina Hurricanes, it was announced Thursday.

The 21-year-old Svechnikov had 15 goals and 27 assists in 55 games last season -- his third with the team.

The Winnipeg Jets have agreed to terms with forward Andrew Copp on a one-year contract.

The deal is worth $3.6 million for Copp, who had 15 goals and 24 assists in 55 games for the Jets last season, adding two assists in eight playoff games.

The Detroit Red Wings and winger Jakub Vrana agreed to a three-year contract worth $5.25 million per season Tuesday, avoiding arbitration.

Vrana, a 25-year-old Czech skater, had eight goals and three assists in 11 games last season with the Red Wings after they acquired him as part of a major move just before the NHL trade deadline.

The New York Rangers have an agreement with restricted free-agent goaltender Igor Shesterkin on a four-year contract.

Rangers general manager Chris Drury announced the deal on Monday without disclosing terms.

The New York Islanders and defenseman Adam Pelech agreed Friday on an eight-year contract.

The team did not disclose financial terms.
